(2 posts)
£25,622 - £31,358 per annum (pay award pending)
The CTSU is one of the world's leading centres for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of chronic diseases (such as heart disease and cancer). In heart disease, the CTSU has conducted the highly successful HPS trial of cholesterol-lowering treatment among patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease and the ISIS series of trials in acute heart attack, from which the large ISIS case-control study of the causes of heart disease developed. Several other large epidemiological studies (PROCARDIS and Mexico) and randomised trials (HPS2/THRIVE, SEARCH, SHARP) are in progress.
Further details can be found on the CTSU web-pages: http://www.ctsu.ox.ac.uk/
We are seeking to recruit two medical statistician/programmers to work on heart/vascular disease studies. These very large studies each include over 15,000 heart disease cases and incorporate blood sample assays allowing the measurement of phenotypes, such as blood lipids, and of genotypes. These studies represent powerful resources with which to explore known as well as new potential risk factors for disease.
You will work under the overall direction of a senior statistician as well as work closely with clinical epidemiologists. A relevant higher degree (or equivalent) and experience of statistical analysis, preferably in SAS or R/S-PLUS are essential.
In return, we offer 30 days annual leave, a competitive salary and a final salary pension scheme.
Please note that final appointment will be subject to pre-employment screening.
