Dear Jenny - you should maybe contact Meinwen Ruddock at St Fagans before
she goes off on maternity leave - they have probably one of the oldest Oral
History archives in a museum ( started in the late 1950s)
[log in to unmask] ; also worth contacting the Imperial War
Museum?
Cheers
Christine

Hello All,
I have been asked to find out how other museums deal with Oral History, as
here in Aberdeen the oral histories collected by another Council Department
have since transferred to us. Some feel that they are more research tools
and references, whilst other feel they constitute "Collections" and should
thus be accessioned on our collections management software.
Clearly we need to catalogue the interviews in some way, so we know what we
have. How do other museums do this - do you treat them as museum objects?
How do you do this for digital files?
Any thoughts appreciated.
Jenny
