One (possibly two) research positions in Social alcohol and drug research at the Centre for Social Research on alcohol and Drugs (SoRAD). Ref.no SU 619-1551-09.

These positions are announced within the frame of the Centre of Excellence programme: Exclusion and inclusion in the late welfare state: the case of alcohol and drugs.
The aim of the programme is to elucidate ongoing changes in the alcohol and drug area in Sweden from a broad social science perspective. Particular focus is on how such changes are related to different processes of marginalisation and integration. The programme includes three interacting themes:
(1) Consumption, problems and norms,
(2) Alcohol and drug policy and its implications, and
(3) Addiction and dependence – societal reactions, treatment and recovery processes.

The overall aim of the research conduced within the programme is to generate new knowledge of more fundamental structures and processes in the late post-modern society, starting out from changes in the alcohol and drug area.
Scope of the position
We seek a highly qualified researcher to direct and carry out research within the frame of one/some of the themes within the program, to cooperated with other researchers within the program, to supervise PhD students and/or other research personnel, and to initiate and apply for grants for new projects within the frame of the program.
Qualifications
Suitable candidates should hold a PhD in, for the program, a relevant subject and are expected to have good knowledge in social science theory and relevant methodological competence for the research in question. Good ability to co-operate and power of initiative is required. Previous experience of social-science alcohol-and/or drug research is implied. Documented ability to generate new grants for research is considered an additional qualification.
Application
The application should be written in English or Swedish and should include a PhD degree certificate, a CV and a publication list. In addition, the applicant is expected to enclose a short statement (2-3 pages) of the research, with connection to one/some of the different themes within the program that he/she will pursue within the frame of the employment. The statement should also include the purpose of the research, design and methods in relation to previous research and theory, and the relevance for the Centre of Excellence programme.
