Data Management for ESRC Research Centres and Programmes
Date: 3 November 2009
Location: Centre Point, London
On 3 November 2009, The Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) is
holding a seminar in central London on managing and sharing research
data, aimed at researchers and data managers working as part of an ESRC
Research Centre or Programme.
The ESDS supports ESRC's Data Policy whereby all award holders, from
individual grants to larger Research Centre grants, are required to
offer research data to UKDA so they can be archived and shared with the
wider research community.
The day provides an opportunity for Principal Investigators, managers,
administrators and technical staff from Research Centres and Programmes
to come and learn about data management matters essential to enable data
sharing, such as consent, confidentiality and anonymisation; data
description; data storage and rights management.
Staff from Research Centres and Programmes will present their own
experience of the challenges of managing data within their own
organisation, and implementing and monitoring data management plans.
Participants will be encouraged to take part in break-out groups and
provide feedback to ESDS. ESDS is keen to find optimal ways to support
Research Centre and Programme staff and researchers.
There is no cost for this day but places are limited so booking is
essential. However, priority will be given to researchers and staff
working in current or past ESRC Research Centres and Programmes, or
those wishing to apply for new large-scale grants.
