GRANTS ADVISER, PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
12 month contract
The Wellcome Trust is a leading charity whose mission is to foster and promote research with the aim of improving human and animal health.
We currently have a vacancy for a Grants Adviser in our Medicine, Society and History/Technology Transfer group within the Grants Management Department. You will have responsibility for grants and awards in the area of Public Engagement which supports the Trust's objective of engaging the public with biomedical science and the issues it raises.
The role will involve handling a portfolio of Public Engagement grant applications and awards and managing the processes associated with the Trust's grant-giving activities, including inputting information onto the relevant databases and preparing papers for the Funding Committees. In addition, you will liaise with the external community, developing positive relationships with applicants, grant-holders and reviewers and will work in close collaboration with colleagues in the Trust's Medicine, Society and History Funding Division.
You will therefore need to possess:
* A relevant degree and experience of working in the Public Engagement arena
* Several years administrative experience plus a strong desire to develop and apply administrative and business process skills
* A proven ability to work to deadlines while ensuring excellent attention to detail including numerical skills
* Computer literacy (ideally with experience of databases and windows based software)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a small group
* Flexibility as you may be asked to cover for colleagues in the group undertaking grant work in the areas of history of medicine, bioethics and technology transfer.
This job is currently being offered on a contract of up to one year and the salary will be on a scale from £28,000 per annum plus benefits.
