A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available to perform quantum chemistry
calculations to understand the processing of surfaces of Kuiper Belt Objects.
The candidate would be a part of a team of several investigators including a
theorist (Head), physical chemistry experimentalists (Kaiser) and astronomers
all investigating Kuiper Belt Objects. For additional research details see the
Head and Kaiser web pages at http://manoa.hawaii.edu/chem/index.php?
s=Faculty.
The candidate should have at least a Ph. D. in chemistry or physics; prior
experience with computational chemistry; ability to carry out independent
research and prepare manuscripts of results for publication. A better qualified
candidate should have extensive computational chemistry experience with high
level calculations on ground and excited states for small molecules in matrix
environments; some experience with performing QM/MM calculations; and an
interest in astrochemistry. The pay range is competitive and commensurate
with experience starting from $36,000 per annum.
