I was really interested to see the reader/professor post advertised at City. I'm already thinking ahead to what I might do post-Birthplace, and this is exactly the kind of job that would interest me. I'm sure there will be plenty of people interested in this vacancy and that you will find a suitable candidate with no problem at all but, just in case you don't manage to fill the post, I might be interested in applying next year if the vacancy was still available.
If by any chance the post is re-advertised would you post it on this site again?

Background
City University London is seeking a new Reader/Professor to make a significant contribution to the strategic direction of the Department and to continue the development of our programme of research in midwifery and perinatal health on a permanent basis. Our School's research programme was ranked the top submission in London to the Nursing and Midwifery Unit of Assessment in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise. The Department offers courses and research training at BSc and Masters and doctoral level.
Responsibilities
The post holder will give leadership to the strategic development and management of the Department's programme of research while working collaboratively with other researchers in the School and University. This will include teaching at undergraduate and masters level and supervision of masters and doctoral studies.
Person Specification
We are looking to appoint an exceptional person with experience and research interests related to health and care of women and babies and their wider public and social contexts. A broad knowledge of current research in the field is essential.

Background The School of Community and Health Sciences is seeking a Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Midwifery to join a skilled, enthusisatic and friendly team. The School offers courses at BSc, Masters and doctoral level. Responsibilities
You will be working closely with the Lead Midwife for Education to make a significant contribution to the strategic direction and development of the Department. Key roles will include the development of curricula, facilitating the research teaching and supervision, and research capacity building in conjunction with the lead researcher. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the day to day running of the Department and provide support to the Head of Department on a range of duties.
Person Specification You will have experience and expertise in undergraduate and postgraduate midwifery practice and education. The successful post holder will have a PhD (or equivalent), a teaching qualification and currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. You will have a broad knowledge of midwifery and women's health issues plus a commitment to research and scholarly activity. It is intended that this post will offer the right person an opportunity to be prepared through mentoring and training for future leadership of an academic department.
