Dear Ali

This is a COMPLETELY (!) off-the-record enquiry ...

I was really interested to see the reader/professor post advertised at City. I'm already thinking ahead to what I might do post-Birthplace, and this is exactly the kind of job that would interest me. I'm sure there will be plenty of people interested in this vacancy and that you will find a suitable candidate with no problem at all but, just in case you don't manage to fill the post, I might be interested in applying next year if the vacancy was still available.

If by any chance the post is re-advertised would you post it on this site again?

Many thanks and I hope all is well with you

Mary
