Dear all,
This is my last week at King's - after nearly 25 years I'll be finishing on Friday
You may have heard about the restructure for the Information Resources teams that is now being implemented - well, as I don't agree with the plan or the way it has been carried out I have decided to take the redundancy/early retirement package - a number of my colleagues have also decided to leave
I never expected to be here until I hit 65 but this has happened rather sooner than I would have thought & it's rather a sad way to finish
For the past year King's moved to a free doc del service for all (except u/gs) but has now reverted to charging again (too big a strain on the budget) & plans to introduce full-cost recovery shortly, when I expect ILL to all but die off
I'd like to pay tribute to my team, who have been great, & thank those who have helped & supported us over the years - & also to say how much I'll miss you fellow ILLers, especially FIL colleagues
I think being involved with FIL has been one of the best things I ever did, so I would encourage others to get involved too
I don't have anything lined up but hope to get something, so it's poss that I may be back (as the Terminator might have said), but, in any case, I don't plan on doing a Thelma & attend future FIL conferences
Best wishes to all,
Stephen
