italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
The solution of bowl proposed by Andrea Rizzi seems pretty convincing for the first instance. In this other case if the c in citelle can have the value of c with cedilla, it may be that we are looking at a plural of sidella which I see in Cherubini's Milanese -Italian Vocab (1839) means a vaso di rame for water carrying. Storing food in unlined copper pots leading to poisoning?

Dear colleagues,
my contribution may not quite help solve the problem, but I have also
found the term (or a very similar one) in the Milanese correspondence
and likewise failed to find a suitable meaning for it.
A letter about Gian Galeazzo Maria Sforza contains the following
passage (dated 1494):
I always thought it was food stuff (possibly vegetables) that was good
for one's health, but none of the dictionaries I consulted was very
helpful. The context is that of the prolonged illness of the duke, who
was plagued by fevers and stomach aches.
With best wishes,
Monica
