THE ORGANISATION
SPSA provides Scotland with a range of vital support services and an expert
police resource to lead the countrys overt and covert fight against drugs and
serious organised crime. From the training they receive to make it onto our
streets, to the technology they use when they are out there. From the
intelligence they need to progress an investigation, to the evidence gathering
needed to secure a conviction. From the expertise needed to take out a local
cannabis farm, to the international partnerships needed to disrupt a money
laundering scheme, the Scottish Police Services Authority (SPSA) is an
integral partner for the forces and the Scottish Government in supporting
policing to serve Scotland.
THE ROLE
To undertake capture of police related spatial data for all Scottish Police
forces in support of the ongoing ACPOS National GIS project.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
To undertake the capture, editing and maintenance of spatial and
attribute data.
To liaise with business and partner agencies where appropriate
regarding data requirements and update procedures
To ensure captured data is accurate, consistent and current.
To gather all relevant metadata to agreed standards and ensure that
it is accurate and complete.
To assist with geo-database design and formulation of attribute
schemas for individual datasets.
To ensure adherence to data quality standards.
To ensure data has undergone quality checks before use.
To assist in estimating the effort and timescales involved in data
capture tasks that have been delegated to the team.
To operate proactively within an environment of closely managed
projects, providing regular task updates and supporting project
management processes.
To participate in quality reviews, constantly striving to improve
working practices.
To assist with the development and management of geospatial data
within an enterprise environment, using a federated structure of
corporate data servers.
To keep abreast of Data Protection, Freedom of Information, and
local/national Security policies and ensure that such policies are
adhered to.
Any other duties consistent with the job as directed by management.
