Morning
At York College we charge for parking for both staff and students, we have
operated this system successfully since we opened in our new building two
years ago.
We operate two types of parking permit, an occasional permit and an annual
permit, the occasional permit is issued free and then staff/students pay
50p per day via pay and display machines, an annual permit is charged at
£60 per year though staff can choose to have £5 per month deducted from
their salary, for motorcycles/moped's we charge £45 per year, we also
charge disabled users at the staff/student rates.
Before we issue a permit we insist that staff/students have held a full
driving licence for a period of 9 months, there is an appeal system where
persons who don't comply with this can appeal to a member of the senior
management team, if they are commuting and their home address does not have
good public transport then they may be successful in their appeal.
We police the car park and do clamp/charge (currently £25 release fee) for
staff/students failing to comply but they would always receive a warning on
their first offence so there is no excuse for non compliance.
Obviously we have systems in place for external visitors, contractors etc.
Thanks
Geoff

Subject: Staff carprking
At present all our staff parking is free of charge, this includes 40
additional private car park spaces per week during term time which the
College pays for.
However due to the need to reduce the cost of the 40 additional car space,
the staff using the College car parks have been ask to contribute approx
£3.50 per week.
Please would you provide any feed back on how your staff parking procedures
work and how much do you charge
Many thanks
