thanks for that, paul. i live in the same area as yates, but haven't met him
and don't know his work. so have been perusing his site, reading in the
poetry section and from his memoir about his decade as a prison guard. i
knew he'd spent years as a prison guard after being the chairman of the
creative writing dept at ubc. that transition had always interested me. i
see there's a whole book online about his experience.
i didn't see 'canticle for electronic music' or 'man in a glass octopus'.
what sections?

Yates criticising my use of plurals in a recent piece in Toxic Poetry. I
obviously havenšt finished my apprenticeship. He's still on my case. But he
ends:

way you fucking want. I do.
