KTP Associate Position - Developer of Interactive Technologies for Use in Therapy

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership exists between The University of Reading's School of Systems Engineering and Swanswell. Swanswell is a leading provider of services which help and support people in tackling problematic behaviour, including alcohol and drug misuse, to enable them to feel well, do well and be happy. This post will be part of the Swanswell's Special Projects team which is based in its Head Office and is located in Rugby, Warwickshire.
The 3 year project aims to develop applications of interactive technologies for use in therapeutic interventions across a range of problematic behaviours, including substance misuse.
You will have a 1st or 2.1 BSc or higher degree in the subject of Computer Science or cognate subject group. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in programming and development of user interfaces. You will also have knowledge of 3D software modelling tools and applications. Experience in developing software applications for virtual environments is desirable.
You will have the ability to engage with practitioners and possible clients/service users. You will also have the ability to work independently and to contribute to an interdisciplinary team. You will have good communication skills.
You will receive a package which offers, in addition to a competitive base salary, excellent training opportunities to further your professional development and support your career progression. This includes a technical and personal training allowance of £6000, the opportunity to achieve a PhD at a reduced cost or no cost (if appropriate) to you, and enrolment on a management development course. In addition to this, you will register for a nationally-recognised Diploma in Management qualification awarded by the Chartered Management Institute. You will be encouraged to attain membership of appropriate professional societies, for example the British Computer Society (BCS) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
