Subject: late snap: new potatoes
Snap: New potatoes for Gwenda
My old brother-in-law Des, phoning
from West Auckland says to me
how much he is still
grieving
for my sister Gwenda, dead just a year -
'She loved her new potatoes
with mint.
Last year's shop potatoes were a total
disappointment for us, so
I've
just got in some seed potatoes
for planting now.'
 When he eats them alone,
in December, I can tell by his voice
he will talk to her about it. 'New potatoes,
Gwendy, mint sauce, just like the old days.'
