I am curious if further clarification could be provided for the statement "the 1998 ice storm - the most costly disaster ever in Canada, northern New York state, and Maine"? Looking at http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/forcesofnature the ice storm is placed second in terms of costs of Canadian disasters. Interestingly, that list puts the 1988 drought cost as being $1.8 billion, while D. Phillips, 1990, "The Climates of Canada", Environment Canada suggests that the loss of exports alone cost $4 billion, potentially exceeding the ice storm when the drought's total cost is considered. What was the cost of the 1930's drought in today's dollars?
