Following on from the successful 'What's Eating Your Collection? An introduction to Integrated Pest Management (IPM)' we are pleased to offer people the opportunity to extend their knowledge of IPM with this one day course lead by David Pinniger, one of Europe's leading IPM specialists.

This practical course is for anyone with a basic understanding of IPM or who has attended an IPM introductory course in the past and wishes to improve their knowledge of insect and pest identification. It will particularly relevant to any staff or volunteers with responsibility for monitoring and organisation of insect and pest traps. The day will take place at one of the Institute of Archaeology's labs, giving delegates the opportunity to really see which insects and pests may be 'living' with their collection.

At the end of the course delegates will:

* Know the main groups and species of pest insects which are found in museums, historic houses, archives, and collections.

* Identify the main beetle pests and their larvae.

* Identify the main moth species and their larvae.

* Recognise other pests such as silverfish and booklice.

* Have more confidence in recording and analysing data as part of an IPM programme.

Delegates will be asked to bring samples of insects, pests, and larvae found in the traps so that they may be inspected and identified on the day.
