Funding has been secured for a 24 month post for a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the Policy, Ethics and Life Sciences (PEALS) Research Centre, in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Newcastle.
You will work with Professor Erica Haimes, the Principal Investigator and Professorial Fellow at PEALS, on a project entitled, 'The provision and acquisition of reproductive tissue for stem cell research: engendering, promoting and applying interdisciplinary contributions to policy and practice'.
The study has two central aims: first, to facilitate dialogues between the various academic disciplines that are prominent in debating the ethical aspects of stem cell science and regenerative medicine; second, to use that interdisciplinary approach to contribute to improvements in practice and policy in stem cell science and medicine, both in the UK and internationally.
Please note that applications for this post should be accompanied by a 1000 word paper outlining the social and ethical issues associated with the use of human reproductive tissue in hESC research. In addition, your covering letter should explain why your previous research experience makes you an appropriate person to appoint to this post.
This post is full time and fixed term for up to 24 months.
