Looks more like crochet, I am afraid - and not very good at that; they are
onteresting satirical cartoon,s, though - have you tried contacting the
cartoon collections SSN??

The outer edge looks like 'Tatting' to me. I'm afraid I don't know the
details about how this is done but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatting
may help.

Hello
Can anyone shed any light on these fabric pictures? I've not seen
anything like them before.
I've not seen the objects themselves but I'm told they are about 15cm in
diameter. They belonged to the gentleman's Grandmother (1890 - 1976) who
was in the Highlands until about 1906. She then went into service in
London where she may have acquired them.
Thanks in advance for any pointers.
Ali
