Investigator Scientist (Postdoctoral position)

 

The MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (CBSU) is an internationally renowned 
research institute with state-of-the-art cognitive neuroscience facilities, including 3T-fMRI 
(Siemens), EEG, access to neuropsychological patient panels, and an MEG facility (Elekta 
Neuromag).

 

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral scientist to conduct cognitive neuroscience 
experiments on memory, attention, and executive control in the context of an ongoing 
research programme led by Dr Michael Anderson at the Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit 
(CBSU). The primary objective of this position is to devise, implement, analyse and 
report behavioural and functional imaging studies of memory, and memory control using 
functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), EEG, and Magnetoencephalography (MEG) 
in normal populations.  However, studies of memory control in neuropsychological and 
clinical populations will also be conducted with an eye towards testing the relevance of 
this work to clinical disorders in the ability to control unwanted memories.

 

Candidates should have PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience or a related field, plus experience 
in neuroimaging techniques, and be able to work independently on imaging and 
behavioural studies.  A recently qualified PhD will be offered a three year Career 
Development Fellowship.

 

The starting salary will be in the range of £25,622 - £31,358 pre annum, depending upon 
qualifications and experience.  We offer a flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days annual 
leave entitlement, and an optional MRC final salary Pension Scheme.  On site car and
