Panel: Computational Modeling in Political Science
5th ECPR General Conference, 10-12 September 2009
Abstract:
Computational modeling, and agent-based modeling in particular, is
becoming increasingly popular in Political Science. With the potential
to incorporate many actors and both space and time, computational models
are able to overcome the limitations of conventional modeling
approaches. Still, the greatest challenge in the application of
computational models to Political Science questions remains in the
validation of the model. How can we tell whether the model is able to
capture some part of reality? The proposed panel aims to address this
issue and includes papers from different areas in Political Science that
use empirically validated computational models.
