I am saddened to hear of Victor's death, and I'll be thinking of him & lighting a candle Friday. We first met when I stumbled over his name in the first paper I ever gave at Kalamazoo and he kindly stood up to correct my pronunciation. What he's done for us Sidneians and for textual scholarship is great, but I think his warm-heartedness and openness was even a greater gift. Thanks Helen.

Hi Helen,
Jodi-Anne here. Just to say that the information regarding Victor's funeral will be in the Guardian on Monday. The funeral will be in St. Paul's Cathedral, Dundee, on Friday 31 July at 10.30.
Yours in sadness,
Jo.

Dear all,
I'm very sorry to have to tell you all that Victor Skretkowicz has died.
Jodi-Anne George, one of his colleagues at Dundee, called me this
morning on behalf of Carol to tell me the news and asked me to pass it
on to the list. The funeral will be next week, details will be in the
newspaper today - I think the Guardian. I understand also that his
colleagues will be trying to get in touch with Victor's friends
individually by email. I'll pass on any further information as I have
it.
I don't think I need to tell anyone on this list what Victor's scholarly
contribution to Sidney studies has been - I'm grateful that we got the
opportunity to pay tribute to him at the conference organised in his
honour at Dundee a few years ago. I'll always remember how great it was
to be encouraged by him to come to Kalamazoo in the first place and then
see him and Jerry Rubio enthusiastically waiting in the front row for
our first Greville session there making us feel right at home.
Helen
