I don't know whether this is a sensible suggestion, but on LinkedIn, as an example, a facility has been created within individual interest groups where, for example, jobs can be posted - keeping them separate from the main discussion boards but accessible to all members if they choose to view them. I wonder whether this list would benefit from something similar so that members can be made aware of training, services, etc without clogging up the main discussion board.

I agree. In previous postings we had agreed to accept emails related to
training and education events (even though the providers would clearly
benefit financially) but had agreed not to permit other mailings of a
commercial nature or which could be perceived to be of a commercial nature.
Let's have at least one email list which is free of commercial promotions!
