Bridget,
Many thanks for adding this link. It sounds interesting, and I shall explore it further.
It is good to get a response from someone using a version of the approach I called dialogic review, in a group as distinct from one-to-one, as I was. It sounds like it might be possible to link it with concept maps as well - an intriguing possibility: thanks for that stimulus.
One of the plus factors for me when I used the approach was that I found that it could be effective even within the brief (typically 15 min) slot we have for 'feedback' following lesson observations, so it had time efficiency on top of the other gains.
Cheers,
Peter

dear BERA colleagues
once again, a great week of interesting discussion. ( Sorry I'm a bit late wth this contribution!)
I'm very interesting in how we can support dialogic review, and at Roehampton we sometimes use a large sheet of A1 or A2 paper called a " dialogue sheet" , which encourages participants to reflect on comments / thoughts / research around a given topic area. This approach was originally devised for business students at the Cass Business School, but it also works very well for small group discussions in learning / teaching / mentoring topics. You can check out the details at :
http://www.qube.ac.uk/QuBE/toolbox/diags/dialogsheet/dialsht
In a mentoring context, you could add discussion topics such as:
*
quotes from relevant research
*
feedback from children / staff on lessons
*
sentences from the school's policies ( eg on behaviour / SEN / using ICT etc)
*
reflections from the mentees reflective diary
Do try it sometime! You can make your own version using Word 2007.
Kind regards
Bridget

Dear Peter and Everyone,
Thank you very much indeed for being our e-seminar convenor this week. Your e-session certainly evoked a great deal of reflection about how to move mentoring from feedback to dialogic review. On a personal note may I also congratulate you for being one of the very few to gain Teacher Learning Academy Stage 4 recognition for your web-based resources.
This coming week, as I mentioned this morning, there will be no e-seminar. I am grateful to Rosalind for agreeing to delay her session so that we can have the break which our list members requested, allowing time for catching up on reading list archives (and reflection). I'm delighted that Rosalind will be convening her session soon. So - time to stop emailing!
More news about our e-seminars a week from today,
Very best wishes - have a good week!
Sarah
