Hi all,
Although not (topically) totally on topic, has anyone heard of Twitter
being used in museums/libraries through tagging to offer informal,
conversational, discussions about objects/books they are interested in -
a sort of web 2.0 book club (but without the formality).
I have to say my knowledge of Twitter is limited, but this idea has been
playing on my mind for a bit now - following from some companies like
the BBC who use Twitter to follow and interact on very specific
points/parts of their service.
Building on that, would there then be a way, if the above is plausable,
for a Twitter aggegator to collect and collate information for archiving
on a mainstream website - these discussions sugest yes?

I think topic/list #tags are a) useful as an indicator that you're
consciously joining in the public(ish) conversation, and b) they also
allow people with no interest or time in following people outside that
conversation to tune in for that discussion.
The one thing that twitter definitely isn't is 'on topic' - conversation
range from the sublime to the ridiculous via football/breakfast/the
weather - and that sheer stream of variable information probably puts
some people off.
cheers, Mia

Tagging tweets with 'MCG' makes no sense to me - if people want to
follow the mini Twitter threads then all they need do is follow the
people making them.
