Excellent idea - I'd rather go to the discussion than have it arrive in my inbox every ten minutes when I'm focused on other things - thanks Norman, and also to colleagues for stimulating thinking. Let's just reconfigure the space in which its happening, whilst keeping up the momentum!

Back to get head down into the latest bit of writing - on digital and actual spaces and educational futures -

Dear members of the network

As the person who originally set up the mail list when I was at the LTSN generic centre as part of the imaginative curriculum project I was leading, and who did try to stimulate and nurture it in the early days.. I still feel a sense of responsibility and I am concerned at us not being able to self-manage it. This is a very special network of people that are through their influence changing higher ed and it's a great pity and loss if members are driven away because of the volume of email.

I have set up an open wiki for the network. Its not the best tool for hosting discussion I know but the only one I have the skill to set up and maintain so I am happy to put a bit of time in to keep it organised.

http://imaginativecurriculumnetwork.pbworks.com/ <http://imaginativecurriculumnetwork.pbworks.com/>

The sorts of debates we are having could easily be fostered on a dedicated page such as this one

http://imaginativecurriculumnetwork.pbworks.com/How-drafts-reveal-the-creative-process <http://imaginativecurriculumnetwork.pbworks.com/How-drafts-reveal-the-creative-process>

Its very easy to use so please give it a go.. If it takes off then we could perhaps do a once a month summary of new items/discussions/events. A link from an email to a wiki page set up to host a discussion could help us manage the mail list better.

Best wishes
norman

Hi Kevin,

I love the irony that the first post on your linked is about closing down because there is too much work involved in maintaining the community. It seems the issue for virtual communities is primarily question of the social system rather than the technological system (to paraphrase Habermas).

I have also enjoyed this flurry of activity. Its great to see the network spring into life.
If you havent come across it, Richard Greene's 'creativity stuff' http://www.scribd.com/people/view/310309-richard-tabor-greene <http://www.scribd.com/people/view/310309-richard-tabor-greene>

is well worth a read (including his 1500 item checklist!) I promise you it will challenge your thinking about creativity.

I wondered whether you would find it helpful to have a place where we could share things so I have created a very simple wiki

and put some of the things I have written on it. It could also provide us with somewhere to advertise our events and perhaps our interests.

Please have a go at using it and let me know whether you think it would be useful.
