Have a patient who is coded as Adverse reaction maize, and for whom I
prescribed Adcal D3. Not a peep from EMIS, but then I got a very
severe ticking off from the patient because she says it contains maize
(she reads the smallprint).
Anyone know if the interaction database includes excipients. We're a
bit blind with the demise of the old ABPI compendium, BNF and MIMS
dont contain info on excipients, so where to go for such info (CaCO3
and vit D with no maize please!)
Doesn't medicines.org.uk have the same text as the ABPI compendium? I got
a compendium this year has it been discontinued since?
Adcal-D3, Calcichew, Calceos, Calfovit, Cacit D3 all contain corn or maize
starch. The only way I can see of doing this would be to use a soluble
tablet such as Sandocal 1000 for the Ca2+ and either generic ergocalciferol
tablets or One-alpha capsules for the vitamin D content.
