We should demand nosegays for all front-line NHS staff.
Today's Times has a picture of three plods emerging from a house in
full anti-flu mask gear. The front page contains a report of an
unconfirmed child death. This is Apocalypse Next Week (read all about
it!)
The new angle seems to be that children are more prone to catch swine
flu and that therefore they must be at increased risk of death
(Apocalypse For Our Children Next Week).
I had assumed that children were more likely to catch it because
adults have partial immunity from previous flu infections. Does that
sound reasonable? I suppose it's far too early to say whether the
death rate from swine flu in children is higher than in adults. No
doubt we can look forward to a few more weeks of shock horror illness
and death in children from the fourth estate.
