With regard to general medical practice in England
1. There is no evidence that appraisal, a large intervention in the
practice of medicine, has produced any positive effect.
2. No metric has been selected, in advance, for revalidation, a larger
intervention in the practice of medicine which descends in one of its
several limbs from appraisal, to determine whether it has produced any
effect if and when it is brought in, and whether any effect has been
positive or negative overall.
