Jon Radley
Keeper of Geology
Warwickshire Museum Service
COLLECTIONS ASSISTANT
Salary: Scale E £15,570 - £16,663
Museum documentation and collection care activities are central to the work
of Warwickshire museum service. From time to time it undertakes specific
projects, both in the museum and in its work supporting other museums and
heritage groups throughout the county.
Projects can be very short or, in some cases, last over a period of months.
To deliver these projects efficiently, we require people, sometimes, at short
notice.
We are looking to engage suitably experienced people on ‘zero hours’ contracts.
Those engaged on these contracts may be approached as and when suitable
projects arise, but will not be obliged to take any work when offered. There is
no guarantee of frequency of work.
Do you have an interest in the past?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to take on a
variety of documentation and other collections based work. Responsible to
the Project Officer or Programme Manager, you will help with tasks such as
manually and electronically cataloguing, re-packing and storing objects and
even creating basic interpretation for public display.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will have some experience of
museum work, preferably working with collections, and be willing to learn more,
able to use your own initiative and work as a team member. Excellent literacy
and I.T. skills are essential and a postgraduate museum qualification is
desirable. We are also looking for who is willing to work across different sites
across the County.
