Just to support your statement that it is more important what people have to say and the usefulness of their work than on their gender/ transgender identity/ disability status etc.
I am sure Raewyn Connell will be glad that there are people out there who 'get it' and help stop the vilification especially as transgender status is no more a personal 'lifestyle choice' than disability , race or sexuality.
