Last night's program on New Philadelphia was cool, although the weather
didn't cooperate.
I particularly liked the host. Not being an archaeologist, he doesn't go
into all the carefully qualified (aka, dull) explanations that professionals
feel they must make. He's just an intelligent person who is interested in
the topic and wants to cut to the good stuff. Archaeologists who do public
outreach know how an audience will pick up on our enthusiasm -- if we seem
to be bored by this stuff, why should they be interested? The host does a
good job of conveying that sense of keenness, that the work is worth doing.
Among the team, I have to say that Chelsea Rose is a standout. She has an
unaffected and very likeable screen presence. But like Anna I'm biased.
Chelsea is a graduate student here...
