British Machine Vision Association
UK Student Vision Workshop
Friday 11'th September 2009
Queen Mary University (co-located with BMVC)
SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
The goal of this workshop is to create a forum for UK-based research
students to present their work in front of the BMVC community. The
programme will consist of a showcase of work by current and recently
graduated UK students. Presented work will range from high-profile research
that has recently been presented at an international level but is as yet
unseen by much of the UK community to submissions from students who want to
attend BMVC but whose work is currently at an embryonic stage.
The workshop which is co-located with BMVC 2009 will consist of a one-day
meeting and feature both oral and poster presentations. In addition to
submitted contributions, the workshop will feature invited speakers
revisiting recently presented work at top international venues including:
Patrick Buehler, University of Oxford
“Learning sign language by watching TV (using weakly aligned subtitles)”
(CVPR, 2009)
Patrick Ott, University of Leeds,
“Implicit Color Segmentation Features for Pedestrian Detection”. (ICCV,
2009)
Chen Change Loy, Queen Mary
"Multi-Camera Activity Correlation Analysis" (CVPR, 2009)
Oliver Woodford, University of Oxford
“Global Stereo Reconstruction under Second Order Smoothness Priors” (CVPR
2008)
Umar Mohammed, UCL
“Visiolization - Generating Novel Facial Images” (SIGGRAPH 2009)
Authors are invited to submit a one page abstract describing their research
findings. Contributions might include work recently presented at national or
international level, or work in progress that would benefit from discussion
with other members of the community.
Topics include but are not limited to:
Statistics and machine learning for vision
Stereo, calibration and geometry
Person, face and gesture tracking
Motion, flow and tracking
Segmentation and feature extraction
Biomedical applications
Model based vision
Image processing techniques and methods
Texture, shape and colour
Video analysis
Medical image processing
Vision for visualization and graphics
Submissions may include novel work, previously presented material as well as
unpublished preliminary results. The one-page abstracts will not be
formally published and will hence not impede authors from submitting their
work elsewhere.
