Research Associate
Department of Epidemiology and Public Health / Faculty of Medicine
Imperial College London
Salary £26,580 - £38,730 per annum
St Mary's Campus
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Research Associate in statistics or a related quantitative subject to join the research team at the Imperial College "BIAS II" node of the ESRC National Centre for Research Methods (www.ncrm.ac.uk) to carry out leading edge research in statistical methodology applied to social and health sciences. The overall theme of the research project is to provide an analytic framework based on Bayesian graphical and hierarchical models for combining data from multiple sources, and to develop improved methods for handling the intricacies of observational data, such complex hierarchical structure and biases due to missing and mis-measured data (see project web site www.bias-project.org.uk for more details).
You will join an internationally-renowned Biostatistics group (www.icbiostatistics.org.uk) within the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Imperial which is at the cutting edge of applications and developments in Bayesian hierarchical modelling, spatial statistics, and statistical methods in epidemiology, genetics and social science. You will also benefit from opportunities to interact with other researchers linked to the National Centre for Research Methods and will play an active role in contributing to, and participating in, the training courses, research workshops and other capacity building activities of the Centre. The position will be supervised jointly by Professor Nicky Best and Professor Sylvia Richardson and the post holder will also work closely with the other members of the Imperial College Node research team.
Candidates will have a PhD or equivalent experience in statistics and proven knowledge in Bayesian methods. Knowledge of the statistical packages R and WinBUGS would be desirable.
The post is full time for a fixed-term of 2 years and is based at the St Mary's Hospital campus, Paddington.
Committed to equality and valuing diversity. We are also an Athena Silver SWAN Award winner and a Stonewall Diversity Champion.
