Dear Christopher
I see your point - without naming any names i believe some people from the
circle have in fact come forward and blown the whistle -
although its also true that many people who have worked with the PQs
over the
years remain very loyal and convinced that it did release something
greater than the sum of the parts.
I think if you look into the early history of PQ - you will find its
origins in Surrealism -
and the "creation" of urban myth.
The Egyptian material can be interesting but it almost, always panders,
IMO, to a preconcieved idea about ancient history -
so we have the quest for lost chambers which reflects the old treasure
hunting aspect of archeology - and what do they find -
has to be the Bible - which fits with a popular idea as a primeval book
but in terms of textual history -
is actually quite late and derivative -
what's "really there" is actually much more interesting to those
interested in ancient knowledge
but perhaps less glamourous to the commercial publishers??
