An SGMRG member is currently transcribing a document that relates to repairs
in 1893 to a pumping engine at Coalpit Heath
It includes the phrase
".. as Spec'n (see copy of spec'n ... No 14 Page 496).."
The word that I have missed out appears to be "barn" but I have no idea what
a specification barn number would be. It would be more logical if it was a
"Card" number but the writing doesn't appear to show that.
The document may be a copy of one in the Hathorn Davy Records in Leeds (not
checked yet) If it is a trip to Leeds to check the other records for
similar phrases might solve the problem.
Does anyone on the list know if they (or anyone else in Leeds) used Barn
Numbers or Card Numbers or whether they know of any other such items or
similar referencing?
