That's interesting but it does focus on what is good for the academic community - and if one isn't student or staff at a university, many (if not all) of these resources are expensive to use for research - and out of reach for many.
In the past, I've looked in-depth at how one or two of these operate.
I have also considered sustainability of digital resources in some detail more than once over the last 10 years.
A few years ago my leisure time pursuit was contributing to campaigning/planning for the sustainability and growth of museums', libraries' & archives' digitisation skills and resources in the North East. One of the results was DiSCS-UK being set up.
We still have a lot of debate, thinking and some cultural change to effect before we find solutions.
