I've had a look at the SRU list of implementations, and cannot find any
that are specifically in PHP.

You could ask on the SRU Implementors list in case someone has got
something they are willing to share with you which is not listed. I am
happy to ask on your behalf and forward any replies, if you don't fancy
signing up to the SRU list just for this purpose.
