A position is available for a full-time, 2 year fixed term, Research Fellow
funded by the MRC on the project “Understanding alcohol’s effects on
inhibition of behaviour; implications for treatment “.The project will be on the
study of the acute effects of alcohol on cognitive and motivational processes
involved in inhibition of behaviour. Brain imaging should highlight the
involvement of inhibitory control areas (e.g. prefrontal cortex) in the acute
effects of alcohol, rather than of areas involved in motivational processes (e.g
amygdala). The position is based on the Grade 7 of the salary scales point 30
(equivalent to £29,704 per annum) and would be ideal for someone with a first
degree in Psychology, or a related Neuroscience who has recently completed a
PhD in an area relevant to the current research.
The post-holder will be responsible for (1) the design, conduct, analysis and
writing-up of experiments in conjunction with the Principal Investigator (PI)
Professor Theodora Duka and co-investigators Professor Hugo Critchley
(Brighton and Sussex Medical School) and Dr Matt Field (University of
Liverpool). It is also expected that the post holder will contribute to the day
to-day running of the research group of the PI such as assisting with
participant recruitment and project supervision.
