Hello,
if you use "overlays > slices", it displays the slices in the
orientation that they are saved on disk. Similarly, if the data are
sagittal or coronal, then it will display in this orientation.
Note that the order of the slices changes depending on what is left and
what is right (quoting John).
See the comment in spm_transverse.m:
% Although the SPM{.} adopts the neurological convention (left = left)
% the rendered images follow the same convention as the original data.
