Hi Amanda,
Many thanks for your interest in the research. I am pleased to announce
that our questionnaire is up and running. I have provided the link below
in some text. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please forward
it to anyone else who you feel fits the criteria and may be interested in
participating in the research. We are looking to recruit 500 people (250
employees and 250 managers) and so any help you can provide will be great.
If you require any hard copies of the questionnaire then I will happily
send them to you.
Many thanks,
Ben
Dear colleague,
Re: Opportunity to participate in cutting edge research and improve the
return-to-work process for all parties involved.
For many, returning to work, or managing someone’s return to work
following sickness absence can be a challenging process. To improve the
return-to-work process and to make it less overwhelming for all parties
involved, Goldsmiths, University of London, are undertaking research
looking at the line manager’s role within the return-to-work system. The
aim is to produce guidance that will help to improve organisations’ and
line managers’ effectiveness at facilitating employee return-to-work.
If you are a manager who has recently managed or about to manage an
employee returning to work following long term sickness absence (4
continuous weeks or more) due to anxiety and depression, back pain, heart
disease or cancer, then it would be greatly appreciated if you could spend
30 minutes filling out a questionnaire. To access the questionnaire then
simply click on the link below:

If you are an employee who has recently returned from or about to return
from a period of long term sickness absence due to anxiety and depression,
back pain, heart disease or cancer, then it would be greatly appreciated
if you could spend 30 minutes filling out a questionnaire. To access the
questionnaire then simply click on the link below:

We are aiming to gather the opinions of both the line manager and the
employee involved in the return-to-work process. It would therefore be
greatly appreciated if you could please forward this email onto the other
party involved within your return-to-work process (either employee or
manager). All information gathered from the questionnaires will be
anonymous and completely confidential. All information will be held by
Goldsmiths, University of London and only for the purpose of the research.
Its storage and usage will conform to the requirements of the Data
Protection Act (1998).
There will be a follow up questionnaire sent out in 6 months time. If you
complete both questionnaires you will be entered into a raffle with the
chance of winning one of four, £50 prize vouchers for a top High Street
shop. We can also keep you up to date with our findings and any future
developments within the field.
Many thanks for any information you can give which will improve the
return-to-work process for everyone involved.
Ben
