Research Associate
We are looking for a Research Associate with a relevant MD/PhD, who is enthusiastic to work on two linked studies to assess the impact of offering patients informed choice for medicines intended to reduce the risk of chronic disease. The studies will involve analysis of GP consultations and interviews with GPs, building evidence for the design of a later trial. The post-holder will take the lead in managing the studies, including working with the research team, general practitioners, practice staff, and simulated patients. They will also take the lead in data analysis and writing up the results for publication, contributing to the development of further studies.
The successful candidate will work closely with the existing project team: Dr John Benson (Senior Lecturer in General Practice), Professor Stephen Sutton (Professor of Behavioural Science), Dr Fiona Walter (Clinical Lecturer in General Practice) and Professor Theresa Marteau (Professor of Health Psychology).
The post is placed in the General Practice and Primary Care Research Unit. Espousing a multidisciplinary approach toward clinical, heath services and behavioural research, the Unit has recently undergone considerable expansion. The Unit is a founder member of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) School for Primary Care Research, with an active undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme and a range of national and international collaborations .
The post is available for one year in the first instance. Salary scale: Research Associate £27,183-£35,469
