Has your library done something to be proud of lately? It’s time for some well-
earned kudos!
Maybe you’ve run a successful membership campaign, promoted a new library
or service, poked people on Facebook or marked National Year of Reading in
style?
While the commercial sector boasts large marketing budgets, we all know that
library services make a little go a long way using imagination, commitment and
creativity. The CILIP Publicity and Public Relations Group’s Marketing
Excellence Awards exist to celebrate just this sort of achievement.
A prestigious national showcase for your project, the awards can help
communicate the value and importance of what you’re doing among funders,
partners, peers and customers. Winning is also a great morale boost for your
team!
As well as the award itself, winners in the gold, silver and bronze categories
can win free/discounted places at Libraries: a brand to be reckoned with, the
PPRG’s annual conference, held this year in a luxury hotel on the shores of
Lake Windermere, 5-7 November. A diverse line-up of speakers will be
exploring the issue of branding our services - more details on the PPRG
website soon.
The Marketing Excellence Awards are free to enter and the closing date is 31
July 2009. For more information, previous winners, terms and an entry form,

Blow your service’s own trumpet and show others how it’s done!
