Hi Catherine
Thanks for that. I have previously been in touch with Nigel and know this to
be the case. Since I have facilitated the last two meetings at which the
data standards issue was discussed I am of course very aware that Axiell
play an active role in the process. Indeed one of the elements in the new UK
National Profile was included at the specific request of Axiell.
In the interim - i.e. until 28560 is published and the UK National Profile
adopted (both of which will be voluntary agreements) - I felt it was worth
making the point that, in terms of data standards at least, there currently
aren't any - and that this is a circumstance that affects ALL RFID suppliers
equally. Since you posted to a much wider audience than the RFID group I
thought this was a point worth making.
I believe that Axiell in fact offer solutions that go beyond SIP - as indeed
the entire LMS/RFID community of users increasingly wish to do - that will
be the next task for future BIC/CILIP group meetings to discuss.
Regards
Mick

Hi Mick
I-Tag uses all existing standards. As new standards are agreed we will adopt
them, and we actively support the creation of agreed standards. We have
formed part of all BIC working parties on RFID standards. We don't lock tags
down so that they will be reprogrammable to ISO 28560-2 once in place. I-Tag
uses SIP to communicate with the LMS in the same way as any other RFID
solution.
Nigel Lancaster of Axiell can help with any queries on this -
