Dear All,
I have had this request from Sue Wilkinson in the prison libraries - do you know of anyone who could help her?

Subject: Prison libraries group conference
Hi Ruth,
You contacted me recently about the CSG Information Literacy website. I've
had a look at the site and it has got me thinking! I'm just trying to put
together a programme for the prison Libraries group annual conference which
takes place on 6 & 7 October at the Hinckley Island Hotel, Hinckley, Leics.
Information literacy is quite an important subject for prisons. Prisoners
are cut off from most means of getting information while they are inside
(they have no access to the internet or email and only limited telephone
access) and are quite reliant on prison libraries for their information
needs. They also often do not have the necessary skills to deal with
information. However, due to security restrictions, many prison libraries
have only limited access to the internet, or even no access at all.
I wondered whether you might be able to suggest a speaker from your group
who could explore for us the whole concept of how to support information
literacy needs for both prison library users and staff in a non-digital
environment? The person would not need to have a detailed knowledge of
prisons or prison libraries. We would ideally like this session to run on
Wednesday 7 October, 9am - 10am.
I'd be very grateful for your thoughts/ suggestions on this.
Regards,
Sue
