- WHAT CAN THOSE CONCERNED WITH SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATION LEARN FROM OTHER
INDUSTRIES?
Tuesday 7 July, British Institute of Radiology, 36 Portland Place,
London,W1B 1AT (1000-1630)
Chair: Pam Sutherland, Operations Director, Oxford Journals
Scholarly communication in all its forms has much to learn from other media
industries who are already taking advantage of social networking and online
communities. ALPSP has brought together leading experts and practitioners
from computer games, specialised newspapers, magazine publishing and digital
radio, mass-market book publishing and mobile communications to demonstrate
how the use of online communities and social networking are not just
peripheral marketing tools used occasionally but are increasingly a core
part of mainstream business.
This ALPSP seminar will use the successful 'Back It or Bin It' format, first
introduced in 2007. Each delegate will be given 500 ALPSP pounds to spend
on the industry expert or experts who best demonstrates how online
communities and social network have made their industry more successful.
Who should attend?
Publishing staff from editorial, publishing and marketing who want to
influence the future business development decisions for their online
products.
Information professionals who wish to learn more about how these techniques
can be used in variety of different situations, including academic
libraries.
