hello all
nemla (northeast mod. lang. assoc.) is an off-shoot of mla; i have
been the last two years and it is a wonderful intellectual
environment, lacking the pomposity of the huge conferences but
steadily building a solid base, doubling its size over the course of
these two conferences. the next one is in montreal which, let's be
honest, is totally awesome! anyhoo, i am actively trying to widen the
breadth of film and interdisciplinary studies at the conference, and
have concocted a panel that might well be of interest to many of you!
the cfp is pasted below--it may seem a bit vague, but that was because
of the word-limit--hopefully it will also spark some unconventional
proposals!
also, association/conference links are below. abstracts are due sept 30--
i hope to hear from you!

Film and Philosophy
The past decade has witnessed a heightening interest in the
intersection between cinema and philosophy, with critical methods
embracing ever more interdisciplinary approaches to theorizing the
moving image. This panel invites participants from all disciplines to
engage with a methodological approach in its infancy, encouraging
original and innovative papers that address any intersection between
visual studies and philosophical enquiry. Please email 200-word
abstracts to Hunter Vaughan: [log in to unmask]
