Two Research Posts in Criminology are available at the University of
Edinburgh in association with the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice
Research.
Research Assistant (Grade 6):
Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the CJ-Quest
Network of the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research (SCCJR).
The post will be based in the School of Law at the University of
Edinburgh, although the successful candidate will collaborate with
academic colleagues from a number of Scottish Universities. We are
looking for an enthusiastic and motivated candidate with good
communication and interpersonal skills, who is interested in conducting
and developing their expertise in criminological research, principally
using quantitative methods. You should be qualified to postgraduate
level with a good grounding in research methods and some experience of
using statistical software. Knowledge of the substantive areas of
criminology and/or criminal justice is desirable, but not essential.
The interviews will be held on 5th August, with a start date as soon as
possible thereafter. Appointment will be made on a fixed term basis.
Salary Scale: £24,877 - £28,839

Research Fellow (Grade 8):
Applications are invited for an experienced Research Fellow to join the
CJ-Quest Network of the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research
(SCCJR). The post will be based in the School of Law at the University
of Edinburgh, although the successful candidate will collaborate with
academic colleagues from a number of Scottish Universities. We are
looking for a candidate with an interest in a wide range of research
methods and excellent research skills, including experience of using
quantitative techniques to a relatively advanced level. You should be
able to demonstrate a strategic approach to research development and be
capable of contributing to the expansion of CJ-Quest's research
programme and its longer term sustainability by preparing grant
applications, conducting high quality research, collaborating widely and
publishing high quality research outputs.
Interviews will be held on the 6th August, with a start date as soon as
possible thereafter. Appointment will be made on a fixed term basis.
Salary Scale: £36532 - £43622
