Hi,
I have a query regarding inhalation rates used in the CLEA model. I am
currently completing a dissertation for my MSc Environmental Diagnosis and
Management at Royal Holloway University. The dissertation looks at defining
alternative land uses to the ones provided in the CLEA model (residential,
commercial, allotments). At the moment I am working on schools.
I have been trying to define an inhalation rate based on some assumptions I
have made about the amount of sport played in school. I believe the default
residential inhalation values are too low for my purposes. I noted that the
default values for allotments have been calculated by the EA in 'Updated
technical background to the CLEA model' from data supplied by Lordo et al
(2006). The guidance isn't entirely clear how the values were calculated; I
have tried a few times myself but not been able to replicate the EA numbers.
If anyone has any experience calculating inhalation rates and can help I
would be very grateful. If I can find out how inhalation for the allotment
land use is calculated I can then use that to determine rates for a schools
land use.
Many thanks,
Peter Sheppard
