Hi Dawn,

Not an evaluation as such, but I have done a bit of work on the figures. Issue figures are from the start of our BoP scheme. As there is little relation between issues and the number of prescription forms which find their way back to me I didn't take much notice of them at first, so they are incomplete. I have also only recently started to note the number of new borrowers who appear to have joined the library specifically to borrow BoP titles - this is taken only from the returned forms though, so may or may not indicate anything useful.

Precise issue figures are affected by the number of copies we have in stock of each title - where there is high demand I buy more copies which in turn generate more issues, whereas there are few copies of the least popular titles in circulation. However, by looking at increase or decrease in topic (rather than title) I hope a truer picture may emerge.

Best wishes,

Alison

Hi Dawn,

That definitely sounds like the kind of thing we are looking for. I

would be really grateful if you could send us the draft report, and then

the final report later on. Would that be okay?

Thanks very much.

Dawn

Hi dawn,

E run a Bibliotherapy service Read Yourself well and it is being

evaluated by the University of the West of Scotland. I have a draft

report and am hoping to have a final report by the end of the month -

would this be of interest? We got Ethics Approval from Ayrshire & Arran

Health Board to run our study and have looked at CORE scores of

participants as well as other measures such as library usage.

If this sounds like what you are looking for don't hesitate to contact

me.

Dear all,

We have a scheme in Liverpool called 'Well Read' which has been running

for a few years now, and provides self-help type books to members of the

general public via public libraries in conjunction with Mersey Care NHS

Trust.

We are hoping to conduct some evaluation on the effectiveness of the

project so far, so that we can become better informed about how to

conduct the project in the future.

Can I ask if any of you know about any evaluation that has happened with

similar bibliotherapy / Books on Prescription schemes that you have been

involved with and that you would be happy to share with us? Your input

would be very valuable to us.

Thanks for your time.

Best wishes.

Dawn McGowan (Knowledge Services Assistant, Mersey Care NHS Trust).
