The MSc in Human-Centred Interactive Technologies is an advanced MSc at
the Department of Computer Science at the University of York, England.
It is in the domain of human-computer interaction, human factors, user
experience and usability in developing interactive technologies. It is
offered as a 12 month, full-time programme starting in October each year.
We have at least two fees-only scholarships will be awarded on a
competitive basis to UK and EU applicants.
The course has two key aspects:
1. The importance of a sound theoretical basis for the design and
evaluation of interactive technologies.
2. Research methods to provide a sound empirical basis for the design
and evaluation of interactive technologies.
There are eight taught modules:
* Understanding Users
* Requirements Engineering
* Human-computer interaction
* Web Design
* Research Methods - Qualitative
* Research Methods - Quantitative
* Advanced Research Methods for HCI
* Advanced topics in Interactive Technologies
In the second half of the year, students will undertake a substantial
individual project in any area of Human-Centred Interactive Technologies.

Successful applicants would typically have an upper second class degree
or equivalent and a background in computing or usability work in either
an academic or commercial context. Applicants with other backgrounds or
experience will be considered.
